Here’s where I’ve been living…

Matthew 11:28-30

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

I usually like to get to the “rest” and skip the “Come to me” part. This verse is an action verse. If I want rest I have to come to Him, get away with Him. That’s the only way it happens. Sometimes I wait for some supernatural “zap” of rest to happen amidst a busy schedule and all the other chaos. I pray for it, I beg God for it, but it never happens. It won’t happen. Rest only happens when I make the time to “get away” with Him. To spend time letting him fill me up.

God is ready and willing to give rest but is waiting for us to take the first step towards him.

When was the last time you “came to Him” and lived “freely and lightly”?

I love the idea of living “unforced rhythms of grace” Every time I read these verses that phrase resonates with me.
I hope you seek your rest

Drew this is my favorite verse in the bible. I love the: “…learn the unforced rhythms of grace.”
