    • Be open to criticism and admit when you’ve blown it. 

    There have been several times where I’ve come to Robbie with a concern and his response was, “You’re right, I think I messed that one up.” What do you do with that? It totally disarms the person. That’s a leader I want to follow. I’m not looking for perfection in a leader, just someone to partner with. Some leaders feel like perfection is the standard and are threatened by failure. Robbie and I have always said that we would try things and be ok with it if it failed. Obviously, we don’t aim for that and we try to make decisions that set everyone up for a win. I like what Mark Batterson said, “Built into our core DNA is allowing for mistakes, just not the same mistake twice”.
